Over a minimum of two days of enlightening lectures and exciting diving you will be introduced to the local shark species with thorough information about each species and how best to approach them. Depending on the season and the location where the course is arranged, lectures will be focusing in particular on shark species likely encountered during your training sessions. During the cooler months this will typically include the great white sharks (Carcharodon carcharias) while the summer months presents plenty of opportunity to view and interact with the fascinating broadnose sevengill cow sharks (Notorynchus cepedianus). In summer we also sometimes go further out to sea where we freedive with the large pelagic species such as blue shark (Prionace glauca) and the lightening-fast shortfin Mako shark (Isurus oxyrinchus). The course offers you as a participant, in-depth discussion on the biology and behavior of these sharks which is supervised by a dedicated and experienced marine biologist and skilled shark diving staff.
Minimum prerequisite: PADI Open Water Diver or equivalent.
Upon successful completion of the course you will be awarded a Shark Diver Distinctive Specialty certification issued by PADI.
