Day 1: Arrive in Durban, South Africa
A representative will meet you at Durban International Airport. Transfer to Umkomaas and settle in at the guest house (B&B, pool, bar). Introductory session, sort out dive gear and lecture on shark diving techniques and relevant species encountered.
Day 2: Dives at Aliwal shoal
Two morning dives at Aliwal shoal with sand tiger sharks. Then relax for a while, followed by a lecture in the afternoon on local shark species with an in-depth session on the tiger shark.
Day 3: Diving with the mighty tiger shark
Drift dive with tiger sharks in the morning. Then we transfer to Shelly Beach, the launching site for dives at Protea Banks, and settle into guest house situated close to amenities. Evening lecture on shark species encountered at Protea Banks.
Day 4: Diving at Protea Banks
Early morning launch for two shark dives on Protea Banks. On these dives we can encounter a variety of sharks as well as other large marine life. Lunch followed by a lecture on sharks where we dig deeper into shark science.
Day 5: Diving at Protea Banks
Another unforgettable day of diving with sharks, rays, whales, dolphins etc at Protea Banks.
Day 6: Spare day
This day can be spent exploring more of the blue wilderness or alternatively explore some of the local attractions such as a safari to a local game farm.
Day 7: Transfer to Cape Town
Settle into a guest house in False Bay with numerous restaurants nearby. Lecture in the evening on shark species found around Cape Peninsula.
Day 8: Diving in Cape Town/False Bay
Two dives in False Bay with seven-gill cow sharks, spotted gully sharks and other species. Evening lecture: Biology of the Cape fur seal and the white shark.
Day 9: Excursion to Seal Island
Early morning excursion to famous Seal Island where we study white shark predation on Cape fur seals. One seal dive in False Bay. Evening lecture: Great white shark. Extensive information about the species.
Day 10: White shark
Transfer to Gansbaai and white shark cage diving. Lunch and dive gear supplied onboard.
Day 11: White shark
Spending more time in the morning with this super shark of the ocean. Transfer to Cape Town and guest house.
Day 12: Spare day
Optional diving day or local excursions, such as wine tour or exploring Cape Town and its surroundings. Evening lecture: Pelagic predators.
Day 13: Spare day or diving with pelagic sharks
Free-diving with Mako and blue sharks offshore in deep water.
Day 14: Departure day
Completion of shark safari, certification, last minute shopping and airport transfers.
